An electronic cigarette, also termed as an e-cigarette, e-cig or a personal vaporizer (PV) is a battery powered device which vaporises an e-liquid solution which is then inhaled as vapour.
Rather than producing smoke from combustion (i.e. with a traditional cigarette) an e-cig can be used to deliver nicotine without the need to burn tobacco. Various designs are available such as the earlier models that resemble the look of a traditional tobacco cigarette, or current popular models such as a regular EGO type models, high performance (Sub-ohm) e-cig models are also available.
The technology allows people to enjoy recreational nicotine without inhaling smoke, or the 4000+ chemicals that are found in tobacco cigarettes. One of the main reasons behind this is because e-cigarettes do not actually “burn” anything, as they electronically heat up the atomising component which vaporises the e-liquid solution delivering a plume of vapour to the user.
E-liquid is a consumable used in conjunction with an electronic cigarette device in order to produce the required vapour, it is also known as liquid, juice or e-juice. It comes in a variety of nicotine strengths and flavours and often consists of 4 main ingredients:
Base liquid (PG – Propylene Glycol), PEG 400 (Polyethylene Glycol) or VG (Glycerine)
The most common base liquid is PG (Propylene Glycol) which is often used as a food additive (E1520) The flavourings in e-liquid are the same as food flavourings, but some have been specially created for vaping. Try and store your e-liquid out of direct sunlight. You can even mix two or more flavours together to make some new blends.

VapeHit has always had a very strict over 18 policy.
Now it has become the law and it is illegal to supply vaping products to anyone under the age of 18.
They should always be kept away from children.
They are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
In order to differentiate the user of an electronic cigarette from traditional tobacco smokers, the term 'vaping' was born as opposed to 'smoking'.
This correctly emphasises the marked point as users of traditional tobacco cigarettes which produce smoke being termed as 'smokers', with the users of electronic cigarettes there is no definitive smoke actually produced. From an electronic cigarette device what appears to resemble smoke is merely water vapour.
Just as one would not term hot steam from a hot cup of coffee as smoke, likewise the same applies here. Smoke is generally a result of combustion, and steam (vapour) is generally the result of being heated (no combustion).
Regular users who vape are also called 'vapers'.
Initially we would advise that you start with a basic regular kit as opposed to the advanced sub-ohm kits, this is so that it will allow to have a general feel of the vaping experience in order to dertemine if its suitabile for your personal use. You can always progress to other models as you become more experienced.
You will need a kit complete with a battery, a charger, a clearomizer and some e-liquid.
You can re-charge your battery from the USB port on a PC, but if you prefer to re-charge direct from the main supply look for a kit which includes a 'mains wall charger', or you can purchase one as an additional item.
Clearomizers have an internal component called the atomizer, this is the work horse of the device and vapourises the e-liquid. As a newbie you may initially go through a teething process and damage the atomizer earlier than expected. This is not rare with new users, and is experienced with a burnt like taste or it simply stops producing vapour so consider keeping some spare clearomizers to hand. Any particular clearomizer model will have a fixed or a replaceable atomizer (coil head). If you choose a fixed atomizer, then once it expires you will need to replace it with a new one. For clearomizers with replaceable atomizer coil heads, once the coil head has expired you simply unscrew the old one out and replace it with a new one. You can look to purchase additional replacement coil heads by clicking HERE.
Every 2-3 weeks on average (depending how often you use the unit) the atomizer/coil head will burn out. You will be able to either taste the burn, or it will eventually stop creating vapour. In the majority of our clearomizers this coil or head can be replaced, saving you money on buying new clearomizers.
Now the e-liquid, with all the flavour and percentages it can seem a little confusing, but I assure you it isn’t. As with food and drink, you’ll never know which one is for you until you try it. However, Virginia Tobacco, Menthol Blends and Strawberry are popular choices which never seem to disappoint.
The percent is the amount of nicotine in the e-liquid. For example 1.8% = 18mg. Our 1.8% is based on a 20 per day smoker. For those who would like a little more we have 2.4%, and for those who would like a little less, we have 1.2%, 0.6% and 0.0%.
For regular kits choose a High PG content or a 50/50 PG/VG blend (HIGH VG blends are ideally suited for use with sub-ohm devices).
We understand this can all be a little overwhelming, if you still need a little help, please do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly advisers who will be more than happy to set you up!
There can be various reasons as to why someone decides to switch over or to utilise an e-cig.
Traditional tobacco cigarette smokers who decide to switch over may have become more consciously aware of the health risks of tobacco smoking and may possibly simply continue to smoke because they enjoy smoking as they enjoy the physical and emotional feeling that they receive from smoking traditional cigarettes.
They may have experienced an ardent desire deep inside to stop smoking knowing the harms they cause to themselves but are unable to stop due to the physical experience they have come accustomed to and are unable to relate to just dumping the habit, especially knowing the cravings that awaiting them round the corner.
So they may procrastinate and fail before they start as just the thought itself becomes unbearable. Other factors such as everyday socialising without their cigarette would feel so abnormal and difficult as only the temptation of being offered a cigarette would be difficult to deter, everyone does not have the same ability and determination to just be able to give up cigarettes like some others that may successfully be able to do so.
An electronic cigarette, being a simulation of a traditional cigarette, offers the user an alternative nicotine delivery system that offers the users a similar physical effect, such as the inhalation process, but the cherry on the icing is that
(o) There is no tar, no carbon monoxide or the cocktail of 4000+ chemicals present when smoking an electronic cigarette.
(o) There are a great range of flavours, from tobacco to fruity
(o) The sensation is very similar to smoking; users can experience the same warmth and the same ‘hit’ at the back of the throat.
(o) There’s no bad odour and discomforting anyone with the terrible smell of tobacco smoke emitting from your mouth or clothes, leaving one feeling fresher and smelling more pleasant
(o) There’s nothing that burns, so no ash, no more emptying ashtrays, no stale cigarette after effects that linger on in rooms or vehicles
(o) There’s no known harmful passive effect of vaping on an electronic cigarette, so being more considerate to those around you, especially such as children.
(o) The supply of pure USP grade quality nicotine which is proving to be a cleaner and safer way to supply nicotine to the user, so there’s no need to inhale the thousands of associated chemicals like in a cigarette to fulfil ones nicotine cravings
(o) The savings by switching from smoking to vaping can be in the thousands of pounds, which is more than a reason for most just to switch over as the ever increasing prices of cigarettes really is beginning to pinch the pocket. Plus the saving of one’s time and effort having to do the daily laborious task of going the shop to buy the cigarettes is just never ending.
(o) Electronic Cigarettes are not banned, can be used legally everywhere, even where traditional smoking is prohibited. As no smoke is produced, the smoke that one sees is strictly a harmless vapour mist; hence vaping on an e-cigarette should not be prohibited under most laws and ordinances that ban smoking in certain areas for public health purposes.
After the initial cost of purchasing a suitable electronic cigarette model of your choice, there are a few consumables that incur costs.
The e-cig itself being a functional device may fail or degrade over a period of time, especially if in constant use, would have components such as the cartomizer or battery that would need replacing.
The e-liquid itself is the main consumable assuming daily usage. But in comparison to an average pack of 20 cigarettes being around £7.00, e-liquid supplies work out approximately equivalent to be £0.83 (US$1.28) for a pack of 20 cigarettes. Now isn’t that a fantastic saving?
Even with the low costs of replacement batteries and cartomizers one may need, comparing the costs with the expense of smoking tobacco cigarettes, the savings are still tremendous...... YES you do SAVE A LOT OF MONEY using ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES!
We calculate you can save up to £2500 a year by making the switch to smoking.
